Holding space for those who are healing…

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

Hi, I am so glad you are here! I am a trauma therapist offering counseling services via telehealth. I am located in San Diego, California, the land of the Kumeyaay.

I grew up in Pennsylvania in an incredibly small town with one stoplight. While this offered community and endless amounts of time in nature, this space also held long-term beliefs about gendered expectations and gender-based violence was often normalized. My journey into this work began well before I started and completed my studies at University of San Diego as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in 2020.

Advocacy has been the thread I have followed over the course of 15 years, specifically focusing on intimate partner violence, sexual assault prevention, reproductive health justice, social justice and feminism. This work not only shaped my belief that we all want to be seen, heard and valued, advocacy work helped me find the room to identify and heal from my own experiences with gender-based violence. This work ultimately set me out on the path to hold space for others that are healing.

Since graduating from my Master’s program in 2020, I worked at a rape crisis center as a crisis counselor, providing short-term therapy via telehealth and in-person over the course of 5 years. I have worked with a variety of issues surrounding intimate partner violence and sexual violence, including depression, self-doubt, anxiety, reconstruction of self-identity, and PTSD.

My approach to care is eclectic - one size does not fit all. My primary goal is to utilize practices that aid in healing while gaining feedback on what is working with my client throughout treatment. I utilize a blend of Internal Family Systems, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Somatic Processing, and can provide EMDR therapy.

What Do I Do?

So, what actually happens in session? This depends on a lot of things, including what a client wants to work on.

As the old adage states, “knowledge is power.” I often approach this work with information to help client’s process what is happening from a neurobiological perspective and explore strategies to cope with their internal and external world. My hope is to offer a safe, nonjudgmental, and compassionate space for client’s to explore at their own speed and to take what is learned about themselves back into the world with a stronger sense of self and with hope.

I believe that someone cannot be a safe therapist without challenging systemic oppression.

 My Values

As a white, cisgender woman in the mental health field, my privilege is present. My values as a therapist and generally as a person is to continue working within social justice spaces and incorporate anti-oppressive practices. Oppression and violence are one in the same. As you are learning in this space, I will keep learning, too. I hope to offer a space where I am actively affirming and practicing cultural humility.
